Frequently Asked Questions.
- What type of classes do you offer?
(a) I offer asynchronous courses by topic, term or by year per subject. Each topic is broken into 4 or more “lessons” and vary in cost. These lessons are 30 minutes to 1.5 hour long pre-recorded sessions, followed by practice quiz or assignments. Some quizzes are self-correcting, some assignments need to be completed offline and submitted for correction. All students in the asynchronous classes can arrange with the teacher for a live session for further explanation. All students can email or WhatsApp their questions to the teacher with their questions or concerns at any time.
Students can work through the courses on their own time as there are no deadlines. They will have access to the material until they write their exams. There are some lessons or courses that are prerequisites and must be done first.
(b) Synchronous (live) classes. These are only offered for the Form 5s and Standard 5s who are preparing for their exams. These classes are used to facilitate working past or practice papers and assistance with problematic topics. Students who are already registered with us since the lower forms have first preference to these classes. There are no more than 10 students per session.
Live classes are also done for STEM Workshops or any other activity when advertised.
- Who are these classes for?
These classes are primarily for full time homeschoolers who are self-disciplined and motivated to learn. Homeschoolers are supported by their parents who assist them with time management and check in on their child’s performance in the courses.
Public schoolers and those registered in private schools can join as well but must have the same parental support as the homeschoolers.
- What subjects do you offer?
Primary level: Mathematics, English Language Arts, General Science, Computer Coding as individual subjects or a STEM Curriculum is offered.
Secondary level: Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Integrated science students can complete the relevant Physics, Chemistry and Biology topics (Level 1) for Forms 1 – 3 only.
Other: Assistance with Engineering Mathematics, STEM Workshops.
- What can I do with the certificates of completion that I receive when completing a course?
These printable certificates add to the sense of achievement and accomplishment of the child for their dedication, self-discipline and hard work in successfully passing their quizzes and assignments and completing the course.
It is also used as proof of them completing a pre-requisite course and for any special promotions, give-aways or discounts when advertised by K12 STEM Homeschool Tutoring.
- What are my payment options?
Due to COVID19, we will only accept direct deposit or online transfer to a bank account that will be provided to you upon registration. You can pay per topic, term or year.
Courses are to be paid for in full before access is given. We will reserve the right to remove any student from these courses if they are found to be sharing our course materials, videos, notes, past paper solutions etc. or account with other persons or forums. Contact your teacher for special group offers if you would like to study alongside a classmate/s.
- Why do my calls go unanswered or replies to messages on Facebook are not immediate?
Answering and replying calls, emails, Whatsapp messages from registered parents and students in my courses takes precedence. The “team” that runs the website, social media pages, teaches, creates the courses, videos, assignments, corrects the assignments is made up of one person. If I am in a live class with students, all calls will be returned to afterwards.
There has been an increase in demand for information or consultancy by non-homeschoolers and other educators due to COVID19. Information on homeschooling can be found on the website, please explore these options before. Emails and Whatsapp messaging are more reliable than Facebook inbox messaging or Instagram messaging. Please arrange for a consultancy via email or Whatsapp.
