Our Grade 1 (Standard 1 Curriculum)

Why these courses?

These courses are designed to develop your child’s critical thinking and mastery of concepts from an early stage. The teaching methods used are heavily hands on and include the use of manipulatives and visual methods. Our lessons are delivered through a combination of animated cartoons and real life pre-recorded videos “The Adventures of Miss Allana & Zoey”. Practice and checkpoint tests are in printable format and in some cases in the form of our android apps accessed through the Google Play Store. Creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking are integral to every task. Parents are encouraged to have their child perform these tasks with up to 3 other age-appropriate siblings or cousins.*

This program uses ScratchJr as the coding platform. ScratchJr is FREE and can be used as an app on smartphones and android tablets or as an offline program on a computer. Coding with ScratchJr enhances critical and logical thinking young children in a very fun and creative way. ScratchJr is an introductory programming language that encourages creativity and expression, enabling children ages 5 to 8 to create their own interactive projects through coding. Using ScratchJr, children can snap together programming blocks to make characters move, jump, dance, and sing. They can modify how their characters look, design their own backgrounds, add their own voices and sounds and even photos of themselves—and then use the programming blocks to bring their characters to life.

This series contains 50 short activities:

  • Instructional videos for parents
  • Video tutorials for each activity
  • Printable guide notes.

You are encouraged to submit a final video of your child’s own unique, creation using most of the features in the program to earn a STEM Kit.

ScratchJr is a collaboration between the DevTech Research Group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company.
